This really is no surprise. Before Ricky Martin came out of the closet and coming to terms with his sexuality he believed that being gay was "evil."

Recently he said: "Being Ricky Martin back then and what I was feeling were not compatible. I was the sex symbol and needed to dance and I needed to make girls crazy and I couldn't say that I was gay. It was a struggle."

He then went on to say: "If you add to that whether you call it culture, religion, society but what I was feeling, according to what I had in my mind, was evil and I'm very lucky today that what I have in my mind is love and I am very happy."

For me, it's really strange cos while Ricky Martin might not have wanted to come out of the closet and let everyone know that he was gay, I think almost every gay man under the sun knew that he was infact a gay man! I get that he couldn't come out at the time cos he was seen as a sex symbol to many women and at the end of the day he was making a lot of companies a lot of money so it wasn't just a matter of screaming out to everyone: "I like cock!"

Hopefully now that he is out and proud he will be able to use his star power to help other men struggling with their sexuality and let them know that there is nothing "evil" about a little man-on-man love!

yes "we all new he was gay" well we kinda hoped lol. so you think its easy to come out and i mean really come out, anyone with a loving caring relationship with their family will have found it hard to come out, im not just talking bout telling all your bloody friends, they probably knew before you did, i mean, breaking your parents hearts, their dreams, hopes and blinkered expectations. destroying any "hope of having grandchildren", carrying on the family name and all that! in a world were everyone and everything is "straight" yes that is bloody hard and anyone who says it isn't is either very bloody selfish and self obsessed or lieing to themselves, if they think their coming out didn't hurt anyone, then take a closer look at your life so far, they'll all be there, holding it all in under the surface! add to that the risk of loosing all that you have worked hard for, you career, the things you hold most dear in the world, add to this the fact that you have an overwhelming urge to become a parent, then put yourself under the world biggest spot light and see how that feels, i know, ive done all of the above and yes it was bloody hard, but i now have a very understanding family and a very young family of my own, just like Ricky Martin, im proud of who i am and what i have achieved so far and endeavour to achieve on a daily basis. we should all be so brave.
