A Gay Themed Beer Ad?

A Gay Themed Beer Ad?

by Aamyko 27th April 201101:03

I don't know what to make of this commercial. Some are claiming that Budweiser is aiming at the gay community with the release of the ad. The "Coming Home" theme is moving, yes, but gay? I am not so sure.

It starts out with an American soldier calling a man telling him: "Hey, it's me, I'm coming home!" Then after that there is a split screen showing the two men, one preparing to go home and the other preparing his welcome back party. At the end of the commercial the two men hug and then the soldier goes on to hug two women, that could be his sister, his mom? Who knows, but the commercial is pretty vague at best.

The one REALLY strange thing is that the ad is viewer-restricted on YouTube! That is so ridiculous. It could perfectly be that these two are brothers or cousins and it is restricted because they hug? Even if the video is "gay-themed" why the hell would it be considered "inappropriate?" In that sense it is a huge fail. What is the point of this ad if it is considered "inappropriate" without being one thing or the other?

Have a look at the ad, is it or isn't it? U decide!

if your going to be word specific it says "coming home " not "coming out" it could be deemed inappropriate due the fact it an ad for beer ever thought of that ? , one thinks ones being a bit touchy about this . if you don't know what it's about never assume/ speculate it is what you think it is or could be . it's an ad for beer which i find vile anyway  end of

The ad isn't in the least gay. It's very American and patriotic, as stressed in the closing caption, just in case anyone had missed the point.

Nothing gay about this ad. Unless you are desperately seeking it like this blogs poster. Two guys having a "man" hug after a long time apart speaks me of best friends maybe brothers, the context is pefectly clear.

Aamyko, some ads in the UK do feature gay couples on mainstream TV.. dating sites and credit card adverts.. get with the 21st century dude.. and get out more!

There is nothing gay about this ad. Whoever thought it was must be a nut.
How many guys, who haven't seen each for months, years even. Give each other a hug. It does not mean that they are gay.
Take the French and the Italians, they kiss each other on the cheeks. Does that mean those two countries are gay.
Those! Who look at this sort of ad, and misconstrue these situations needs to get a grip of reality. And stop thinking that they were the ones, that spotted a gay situation.
