XXX-treme Male Grooming.

Nowadays if you don't get something waxed or if you don't go tanning a couple of times a week then some will say that you're "letting yourself go." Others think that all this male grooming has gone a tad too far and are asking when is enough.. well... enough?

We asked Mancentral members the following:

When it comes to male grooming which of these do you consider to be extreme?

The choices were a) back, sack and crack waxing b) eyebrow shaping/plucking c) tango coloured tanning sessions d) wearing make-up, bronzer guy-liner etc.. and finally e)getting manicures and pedicures with a glossy nail varnish.

Well it seems as though most of you felt that ALL of these options were too extreme but even still coming in 5th place with 9.43% of the votes, we have back, sack & crack waxing. So, I'm guessing that this is the most "norm" out of them all and to be honest I know quite a few guys that at least get their backs waxed! In 4th place coming in very close with 9.75% we have eyebrow shaping and plucking. I was actually quite surpised this was so low cos I know that most guys out there do not like it when dudes have eyebrows sharp enough to cut diamonds! Snow Queen anyone?

Coming in 3rd with 21.4% of the votes we have getting manicures and pedicures with a glossy finish. Some comments that were left said that the manicure on its on own would have been o.k but the glossy nail varnish pushed it over the edge, but umm hello... that is part of a manicure! 2nd place with 23.02% we have tango coloured tanning sessions. Seriously? I have seen sooo many gays with skin colour that should only be seen on a cheeto on a night out! I think there was a bit of fibbing going on!

Finally coming in with a huge 36.37%, you felt that wering make-up, bronzers, guy-liner and the rest was the most extreme out of all the options. I think that this just goes to show some people that just cos we are gay doesn't mean we want to have Barbie's make-up secrets all over our mug!

What do you all make of the results? Were you surprised by any? Are there any other things that you consider to be too extreme in the vast world of male grooming? Have your say!

All in all no surprises.  Grooming is important.  How far you go ... well ... that is up to the individual.  Having everything waxed and shaven and all, well, I like 'em clean.  Has nothing to do with being too fem.  Some people just don't like 'em hairy. lol.  But yes, I draw a line at barbie-makeup.  Sorry, that one is just too extreme even for me.  I know some of my queen friends will not agree with me, but tough!

Men should groom themselves to a point.
But to wear make up.
That is taking it to far.I agree with Dennis Azevedo. Men should be men.
If they start wearing make up, their boobs and hormones have gone haywire.

Any grooming beyond being clean, having your hair (and/or any moustache or beard...) clean and well combed or brushed, is too much. I think extreme makeup or decoration of the body or ridiculous hairstyles all exert a feminine look. Let's face it -- it's the effeminate guys who wear lipstick and makeup or whatever that give GAY a bad name. That's just the way it is. Almost all straight people and homophobiacs believe that all gay men are like that. That's the main reason this country will never, never, never accept gays. (There are other reasons, too -- our history as melting post, organized religion, etc.), but the guys who want to look feminine (while they have the definite right to do so ...) are making straight people really have a negative impression of "gay men". If you disagree, fine. Many will disagree. But that doesn't change the truth.

All i can say is thank god it is getting more popular waxing that is, as i run my own waxing studio, but do think pedicures and eye brow shaping a bit extreme
