What if I told you that you could make significant gains in mass after ‘only’ 2 weeks of training? Now I say ‘only’ because nothing is actually THAT easy, but read on. It is possible…….
I’m fortunate to work along some of the most talented Personal Trainers in the country, and every now and then, we set one another challenges or devise programs to see just who’s got what it takes to be a good role model. Who practices what they preach. But sometimes a program gets emailed to me that just seems insane. Unfortunately, this time I couldn’t blame my colleagues. This particular program had been put together by none other than Charles Poliquin, and for any of you that have come across his philosophy on training will no that he takes no prisoners!
So, what does this program claim to do? Well, if you train for 6 days a week, resting on Sunday, for 2 weeks, then rest for 5 days on the third week, it claims you will make massive gains in size and strength……..oh wait, I forgot to mention that the program involves training 9 times a week over the 6 day week. Twice on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and once on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

I’ve completed this program and its one serious beast of a program. Overtraining ones body is something that every Personal Trainer is told not to do with their clients. Our bodies need time to rest and recover to grow, but the idea behind this is that by purposefully overtraining your body for 2 weeks, you essentially break it down and make the gains in the third week when you rest.
It goes without saying that one has to follow a very strict diet while on this program including the addition of supplements. Its not a program you can complete on your own. You need a Personal Trainer or training buddy to push you (and trust me, you will need pushing). I did this program with my other half and lets just say it can test any relationship - personal or professional!
Its not a program to be taken lightly or done with less than 100% commitment to completing it (and completing it correctly), but if you want to know more, email me at pt.paulgardner@gmail.com and I’ll send you more information.
